Scooter convoy record within reach
It’s been two years since the Canadian town of Victoriaville nabbed the Bay’s once cherished world record title for hosting the longest parade of motorised scooters and wheelchairs.
This Saturday, all scooter and wheelchair owners are being encouraged to head down to Scarness Park and help snatch back the world record.
Scooter Convoy organiser Julie de Waard said 160 participants will be needed in order to set a new world record.
With participation forms coming in slowly, Ms de Waard is confident the Bay has the numbers to reclaim its title.
“It’s a lot of fun, it helps put the Fraser Coast on the map and most importantly it promotes the safe use of scooters and wheelchairs around the Fraser Coast,” Ms de Waard said.
“Registrations will open from 8am on the day but we would like people to pre-register so we have a rough idea of numbers.”
The Scooter Convoy will leave Scarness Park at around 9.30am, this Saturday, September 20.
It will be followed by a sausage sizzle and live entertainment at the Scarness Stage.
