A whole lot of fun
For a day of fun, food, fishing, markets and live music, pop down to Pier Park at Urangan on September 28 for the annual Pier Festival.
Fraser Coast Lions Club is inviting everyone to Pier Park for a family fun day, which kicks off at 6am with the fishing competition, organised by the Boat Club Fishing Club.
A merry-go-round and other kids rides, food and craft stalls, a flea market, lucky spinning wheels, face painting and much more will happen from 8am to 3pm.
All proceeds will go to the Fraser Lions Club of Hervey Bay and local charities.
Enter the Pier Festival Fishing Competition at the entrance to the pier from 6am for a chance to win great prizes, or simply buy tickets in the huge multi-draw raffle with a fabulous 55 litre Fraser Island ice box from Bob`s Bridgestone Tyres to win, as well as a combo from Anglers Den and vouchers from The Boat Club.
Last year every child at the presentation went home with a prize, so don’t rush away after the weigh-in closes. Stick around and give the kids a chance to collect a prize.
Children do not have to catch a fish to win, as there are plenty of random draws and hundreds of prizes up for grabs.
The live weigh-in section, organised by the Toogoom Fishing Club, will operate from 6am to 11am. Eligible species are whiting, bream, flathead, pike and gar – nearly all species, except sharks, rays, toads and vermin.
The dead weigh-in operates from 10.30am to 12.30pm, and fantastic prizes will be awarded to the catchers of the heaviest fish in each eligible species.
If you can’t catch a fish, don’t despair because local businesses have been very supportive and donated heaps of prizes and vouchers and there will be lots of random draws to give all entrants a chance to win.
So stay around for the presentations while enjoying some of the Lions music, great food and drinks and you could win a really good prize.
Prizes will be presented around 1.30pm and don’t forget – you don’t even have to catch a fish to win.
And remember, all fish weighed-in must be caught from the pier.
Entry fee for the fishing comp is $3 for 13 years and over and $1 for 12 years and under. For more information about the fishing competition, phone George Duck on 0407 663 578.
